If you know anything about North Carolina, you know that the weather here is weird. Like, 45 degrees and rainy one day, and 79 and sunny the next--in January. As if deciding what to wear to a wedding or wedding-related event in the winter isn't hard enough, add inconsistent weather to the mix, and planning a nice outfit this time of year can be so frustrating!
So, I decided to put together some transitional outfits for inspiration! I wanted to use pieces that were not only fun but afordable, so most of the pieces I used were $50 or less, and I bought all of them in stores you can probably find near you or on the Internet. I put together five sets of outfits that each feature one similar piece that is styled in one way for winter weather and another for spring weather. For the winter outfits, I shopped for beautiful coats, lace, and fun winter accessories. For the spring outfits, I looked for beautiful pastels, floral prints, and light and airy fabrics.
For this shoot, my gorgeous step-sister agreed to be my model, and I teamed up with Ali Kabrich Photography. Ali is a former student of mine and just a beautiful and talented young lady. As a new business owner myself, it only made sense to get together with another budding businesswoman! She has recently started doing photography professionally and already has a great eye for lighting and composition. We had so much fun shooting around historic downtown Smithfield, NC, and, ironically, we shot on one of those 70 degree days in January, so the weather was perfect!
I hope you love these outfits as much as I do and that they help you figure out what to wear the next time you are invited to a winter or spring wedding, couples shower, or bridal brunch! Happy shopping!
